New Delhi : After a 24×7 news channel telecast a sting operation referring to a Pakistani police officer, Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has not only congratulated the channel but also questioned the “loyalty” of those who doubted the Army and sought proof of the surgical strikes, “There is now no more reason to release the video or to give any proof,” he said.

The union defence minister who was perhaps the target of Prime Minister Narendra Modi”s warning against chest thumping also said; “Many people say I am too seedha for a defence minister but I can be tedha for the country,” he added. Describing the cross-LoC operation as “100 per cent perfect surgical strike,” he said the borders of the country are secure under the Narendra Modi government.

However, he warned that one has to remain vigilant against “certain elements” who don”t owe their loyalty to the country completely. But he kept the attack on rival politicians without naming them as he said: “No one had doubted the bravery of our forces ever, but for the first time recently some people are doubting,” he said, maintaining that he would not like to take names.

National security to decide: MEA:  Meanwhile foreign ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said: “What the Government puts out or not is determined solely by national security and will continue to be so.  I have nothing more to say.  As we all know, it is usual to see Pakistan”s reaction of denial of terrorism sponsored from its soil against its neighbours. Elimination of Osama bin Laden and Mullah Mansoor was met with similar denials.  But we all know the truth. He added:”Our Counter Terrorism operation on 29 September was to neutralise an imminent threat of terrorists ready to be launched from across the LoC. The Indian Army was given a task which it carried out with surgical precision. The desired result has been obtained. The intended message has been conveyed.

Sharad Pawar enters fray

Meanwhile, another former union Defence Minister and Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar entered the political debate and slammed the Modi government for tom tomming the ‘‘surgical strikes” done in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. He said that when the Congress government was in power they had also conducted surgical strikes in PoK but also in other countries but had never declared it.  “When Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister there were four such attacks like the surgical strikes in PoK, however

we never went to town with it. One of the operation was also done through Nagaland.” said Pawar hinting that India did such strikes in other countries besides Pakistan.  The NCP chief said, “There is a different situation in the country”s border. The Uri attack is a wound on our country. It was an infuriating attack that needed to be answered. Our commandos went and attacked the launching pads. We supported the move but feel bad about the tom tomming the government is doing about the strikes.
