Kolkata: Actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty was virtually quizzed by police over his alleged violent comment during the poll campaign.

Since the actor-turned-politician was in Pune, the Maniktala police held a virtual interrogation with Mithun Chakraborty for about 45 minutes.

According to police sources, the additional OC interrogated the BJP leader and a total of 15 questions were asked.

“The lawyer of Mithun Chakraborty claimed that the actor had said the dialogues of his movie just as a recreational measure for the audience and also that the utterance of the film dialogues were done without any malice to anyone,” claimed the police sources also adding that the next hearing to the case will be on June 18.

Notably, soon after joining the BJP, Mithun Chakraborty from BJP’s rally at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata on March 7 said few of his film dialogues that were highly appreciated by the audience. After the election protocol was imposed in West Bengal the ace actor was seen imitating his dialogues in several rallies of saffron camp but didn’t utter the dialogue verbally due to election protocol.

It is pertinent to mention that, a FIR was lodged at Maniktala Police Station in North Kolkata on May 6 by TMC cadre Mrityunjay Pal following which a case was started against the BJP leader.

The FIR lodged at the police station alleged, “The actor had used dialogues like ‘Marbo ekhane lash porbe shoshane’ (Will hit you here and the body will land in the crematorium) and ‘Ek chobole chobi’ (A snakebite will turn you into a photograph, meaning will kill you) during the poll campaigns are violent.”

Mithun following the complaint had moved the Calcutta High Court to quash the case but the High Court had nullified the plea of Mithun Chakraborty.

Incidentally, the police quizzed the ace actor on his birthday and in 2015 on his birthday the Bollywood actor had returned the amount he had taken in the Saradha ponzi scam in West Bengal following which he left politics.
