New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday continued his tirade against the Opposition’s attempts to build a “Mahagathbandhan” (grand alliance) against one man — PM Narendra Modi, calling it a “Political circus”.
In his blog and tweet, he said: “NDA coalition is symbolic of stability whereas the invisible Mahagathbandhan is a chaotic coalition & a ready recipe for chaos. I am sure people will reject chaotic coalition & choose stability in 2009 elections.”
“Today there is no ”gathbandhan” let alone ”mahagathbandhan”. It is a ”non-bandhan”. They have no leader, no programme, no meeting of minds. Stability, which is paramount, is a major casualty. One thing is common i.e. a negative agenda ”remove one man”. It is a recipe for chaos.”
Jaitley said: “The Political circus called ”Mahagathbandhan” has exhausted India over the last several months. The tussle for leadership of this opportunistic alliance is still continuing though the nominations for first two phases are over & 3rd phase is about to happen.”
“The larger national interest requires that India must have a national party with an electoral and legislative base that can become nucleus of a coalition govt. suitable to fulfil constitutional federalism. The Circus of mahagathbandhan is nothing more than rank opportunism,” he added.
