Jodhpur (Rajasthan): A shocking incident occurred aboard an IndiGo flight from Jodhpur to Bengaluru when a passenger unexpectedly opened the emergency exit door just before take-off on Tuesday.
The aircraft, scheduled to depart at 10:10 am, had already boarded all passengers, and the cabin crew had begun their routine safety demonstration when the incident took place. The sudden opening of the emergency exit flap caused panic among passengers and prompted an immediate response from the flight crew.
Passenger Quickly Detained & Handed Over To CISF
Following protocol, the pilots and cabin crew swiftly initiated safety procedures. The passenger responsible for the disruption, identified as Siraj Kidwai, who works for Axis Bank, was immediately detained and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for further questioning, as reported by NDTV. Kidwai reportedly claimed that he had opened the flap accidentally.

IndiGo Issues Statement
In a statement, IndiGo confirmed the incident, saying, "Today, during the safety briefing before the departure of flight 6E 6033 from Jodhpur to Bengaluru, a passenger opened the emergency exit flap. The crew immediately followed standard operating procedures. The passenger was later disembarked and handed over to law enforcement officials for investigation."
The airline also apologised for the inconvenience caused to other passengers and reiterated its commitment to upholding stringent safety and security measures.

Probe Underway In The Matter
Airport security personnel, including CISF officers, are currently interrogating the passenger at the Jodhpur airport police station to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
Due to the emergency exit being opened, the flight was delayed by approximately 20 minutes before resuming normal operations. The unexpected disruption caused temporary chaos inside the aircraft but was swiftly managed by the crew.
