The Centre's rift with WhatsApp appears to be continuing, with the administration informing the Delhi High Court on Thursday that the Facebook-owned organisation was indulging in anti-user practices. In a fresh affidavit, the government said that WhatsApp was obtaining "trick consent" from users for its updated privacy policy.
The Centre submitted before the Delhi HC that WhatsApp had unleashed its digital prowess to existing users and would force them to accept updated 2021 privacy policy, to transfer existing user base committed to updated privacy policy before Personal Data Protection (PDP) Bill becomes law.
Further details awaited.
