West Bengal/Odisha: Central team on Monday visited several parts of Cyclone Yaas affected areas in both West Bengal and Odisha.

On Tuesday, the team is likely to visit East Midnapore and will send the review after reaching back to the national capital based on which the central will release the grant,” mentioned the sources.

Notably, several thousand people of Patharpratima and Gosaba are still living in the relief centre as their houses have been washed away due to cyclone. Even saline water has entered the agricultural lands that led to damage of several crops.

Incidentally, more than 20 million people in West Bengal were affected by cyclone Yaas, which also damaged 30 million houses, the Trinamool Congress government conveyed to the central team before they left to visit the spot.

Meanwhile, a team, led by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Sunil Kumar Barnwal arrived at Balasore on Monday and had a meeting with district collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy and other senior district officials before visiting Chandipur and Soro.

According to sources, the team will also visit Kendrapara and Mayurbhanj districts on Tuesday.

Ahead of the visit to the cyclone affected areas in Odisha, the team had a meeting with the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena at Bhubaneswar.
