TMC MP Derek O Brien accused outsiders brought by Amit Shah during his Kolkata rally for the clashes. Speaking to ANI, Brien said that BJP brought their outsiders goons to vandalise Vidyasagar’s statue and create violence. Mentioning BJP spokesperson Tajinder Bagga’s name, Brien told ANI, Anybody can come and do a procession, but what were the outsiders…..Who is this fellow Tejinder Bagga? Who is he? He was arrested, is he not the same guy who slapped somebody in Delhi? You have taken in your outsider goons”.
Today afternoon, Bagga tweeted that he was arrested by West Bengal police yesterday night and alleged that there is an emergency like situation in West Bengal. Later he also revealed that he was released as no evidence against him was found by police, pointing out that police tried to find CCTV footage or photo of him to charge him in the matter.
Brien further said that TMC has two photos to expose that Central forces are in cahoots with the BJP in Bengal. “We have two more pictures to show, this is to do with the elections, we have nothing personally against the Central forces, we have two startling pictures to expose what we have been saying that the Central forces are in cahoots with the BJP in Bengal”, he told ANI.
In reply, Tejinder Pal Singh Bagga reassured that he was not there at the sight of clashes and said that he will leave politics if found guilty. “Nobody takes Derek O Brien seriously. I challenge him if he can prove that I was within 500 metres of the spot where violence broke out. I will leave politics if I am proved wrong or else he should leave politics if he fails to prove the charge.”
The election campaign in West Bengal turned sensitive with clashes during Amit Shah’s road show in Kolkata yesterday. TMC and BJP workers engaged in clatters after stones were allegedly pelted at Amit Shah’s truck. A statue of Vidyasagar was also vandalised in a Kolkata College. Both TMC and BJP have accused each other for vandalising the statue.
