Amid India's Got Latent controversy involving Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia, an old clip of Varun Dhawan is going viral, where he revealed that Samay had invited him to be a part of Latent. However, he declined, stating that there would be backfire and he might get cancelled due to the show's humour.
While appearing on Ranveer's podcast, Varun said, "He asked me to be on the show, and genuinely, I think I’d thrive on the show, and I would go for it. I would get cancelled, but I feel his show would be affected negatively because the more eyeballs you get in that way, sometimes, when you are doing that, humour can backfire—though he is not scared."

"I would do it in a heartbeat; I am not worried. But I think with the teams I am dealing with right now, I will have to do it when I am not promoting, so that nobody else gets caught in the crossfire—because there will be a crossfire, for sure."
All about India's Got Latent controversy
It all started after Ranveer Allahbadia asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have s** every day or join them to finish it once and for all?" he asked. The question even surprised Samay. "What the f***?" he said.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned Ranveer, Samay, and others over the derogatory remarks made by Allahbadia during an episode. The hearing is scheduled for February 17, 2025.

Meanwhile, the episode featuring Ranveer has been removed from YouTube.
Following the backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology, admitting that his comment was inappropriate.
