Actor Radhika Apte shot to fame with back to back releases like Andhadhun, Lust Stories and Netflix originals Sacred Games and Ghoul. The actress also turned a brand Ambassador for beauty brand Clinique, and appeared in a commercial for Marico’s True Roots Botanical Hair Tonic, for which she landed in trouble with the (ASCI) Advertising Standards Council of India.
The commercial starring Radhika is said to have violated the celebrities guidelines laid down by ASCI. ASCI claims the ad is misleading, untrue and that the graphics used are a misrepresentation of actual product action.
Radhika endorsing the product in the commercial can be seen saying lines like, “Stop new grey hair growth”, “No New Greys in 90 days”, “get rid of premature grey hairs from the root,” which were found to be false and misleading by ambiguity and implication according to ASCI standards.
ASCI believes the product may cause darkening of grey hair by virtue of Kesh Ranjak ingredients but the claims were found to be misleading while the graphic in the advertisement and on the pack showing grey hair turning black was considered to be a misrepresentation of actual product action.
