Actress Shreya Dhanwanthary, best known for her roles in shows like Scam 1992, The Family Man, Looop Lapeta, and Guns & Gulaabs, slammed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for deleting a 33-second-long kissing scene from the recently released Hollywood film Superman, starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. Calling it 'absolute nonsense,' the actress expressed her disappointment, stating that the theatre-going experience is being made 'horrible' and that the audience should be allowed to decide what they wish to watch on screen.

On Friday evening (July 11), Shreya took to her Instagram Stories to share a screenshot of a news article with the headline, "CBFC deletes 33-second-long ‘sensual visual’ in Superman." Lashing out, the actress said, "They want us to go to the theatres. They want us to stop pirating stuff. I don’t understand. Why make the theatre going experience so horrible then? LET US DECIDE WHAT WE WANT TO WATCH!!!! Let us decide what we want to do with our time and money!"

Further, she added, She further added, "WHAT RIDICULOUS CRAP THIS IS!!! Then they blame the audience and say that we don’t go to the cinemas anymore and then wonder why people watch mediocre crap on OTT's and TV. It is because you are making the other options intolerable!!! A cinema hall is THE best way to experience a film. You are killing this and us by treating us like children."
Several users on social media called out the censorship and questioned the CBFC's decision to delete the kiss scene in Superman. According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, attendees at the film's July 9 premiere did not react well to the cut, leaving many confused as to why one kissing scene was retained while another part was censored.
