On October 10, 2026, actor Imran Khan was detained by police for attending CJP protest in Mumbai. Later, the actor, who has a US citizenship and holds an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card received a notice from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) ordering him to leave the country by October 28, 2026. Imran filed a plea in Bombay High Court against the 'Leave India Notice', and on Tuesday, the actor got an interim relief from the court.
His hearing date was adjourned till Monday, November 2, 2026. So, the actor doesn't have to leave India on Wednesday, October 28.
According to PTI, Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh gave an oral assurance that nothing would happen after Khan's counsel Venkatesh Dhond cited the October 28 deadline and said no coercive steps shall be taken. "The impugned notice shall stay in abeyance until then," HC said.
A bench of Chief Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Advait Sethna said it would hear Khan's petition challenging the notice on November 2. The high court was to hear the plea on Tuesday. However, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, sought time.
Imran has not yet shared any statement about the whole controversy.
