Nayanthara's documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, was premiered on Netflix in November 2024. She has now found herself in trouble after the makers of her 2005 film Chandramukhi allegedly sued her for using clips from the film in the documentary. Additionally, they have demanded Rs 5 crore from her.

As reported in ETimes, actor Chitra Lakshmanan, who has been sharing exclusive cinema updates via his YouTube channel, revealed that the makers of Chandramukhi were unhappy with some scenes being included int the documentary as she did not seek permission.

However, Chandramukhi makers have dismissed the report, stating that no legal action was taken against Nayanthara. They stated that they had granted permission to the actress for the usage of the footage in her documentary.

Earlier, Dhanush had sent a legal notice demanded Rs 10 crore for using a three-second BTS clip to Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan over the usage of certain clips from the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.

The case was heard in the Madras High Court on November 27, 2024. Later, Nayanthara's lawyer responded, stating that their clients have not violated any copyright laws. Rahul Dhawan, representing the actress, clarified that the footage used in the documentary was from the actor's "personal library" and was not owned by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films Private Limited.

Earlier, Nayanthara wrote an open letter to actor Dhanush and called out his 'vengeance' after he sent her a Rs 10 crore legal notice.

"I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage in audio launches in front of your innocent fans but clearly you do not practice what you preach, at least not for me and my partner," she wrote.
