Actor Adi Irani, known for his roles in Dil, Baazigar, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Welcome, and Welcome Back, recently shared that he was initially considered for a role (Lalit Sood) in Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do but was replaced by Parmeet Sethi. Expressing his disappointment, he shared that he was not informed beforehand by Zoya and later found out that he had been replaced without being formally notified.

Speaking to Filmytantra Media, Adi shared that Zoya prefers casting her friends in films. He also mentioned that he had explained to Zoya that he didn’t want his character to be present throughout the film; instead, he emphasised that the quantity of the scenes could be less, but the quality should be there.

"I mentioned that I wanted a more 'meaty' role, and Zoya told me that she would call me if she had something of that nature. I realised at that point that I was not going to get that part," he said.

The actor shared that at the time, he was filming for Welcome Back when Zoya hired Parmeet Sethi for the role, but he was not informed about this change. "It wasn’t very professional of her, but who knows what she was thinking? It’s very difficult to inform an actor that they’ve been axed. Everybody wants to be a diplomat in the industry, and people are not very frank and open; that is what I feel," he remarked.

The actor stated that today directors and producers only make films to earn money. "The emotional touch in stories is missing," he added.

Released in 2015, Dil Dhadakne Do starred Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma and Farhan Akhtar.
