“World No Tobacco Day” is annually observed on 31st May around the world to spread awareness about the ill effects of tobacco. On this occasion, Western Railway’s Jagjivan Ram Hospital is conducting a week-long social awareness initiative among patients, caregivers, hospital staff and doctors. For the first time, the campaign is being conducted on virtual platform and was inaugurated virtually by Alok Kansal – General Manager of Western Railway. The theme of the events this year focus on ‘Commit to Quit Tobacco’. According to Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the virtual event kickstarted with an awareness talk by Dr. Anuja Kulkarni.
The event comprises of various awareness activities like displaying of slogans, taking the pledge to quit tobacco, audio-visual display, short films, virtual poster exhibition with special emphasis on oral cancers, tobacco related diseases, including informative and engaging brief talks from renowned faculty members. The virtual event was attended by PCMD Dr. Chhattar Singh Anand, Medical Director, JRH, Chief Staff Surgeon and doctors from JRH & Divisional Hospitals of Western Railway. The campaign received an overwhelming response from patients, staff, doctors and attendees.
