Users of Google Chrome on Windows PCs, Macs, and Linux devices are being warned by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) about security vulnerabilities in the older version of the web browser.

For Chromebook devices running out-of-date versions of Google's lightweight operating system ChromeOS, CERT-In has issued a similar warning.

These vulnerabilities have been categorized as "High risk" by CERT-In, which warns that by 'executing a specially crafted webpage,' an attacker may be able to obtain sensitive user data without authorization, cause denial of service, and more.

Both individual and organizational users may be impacted by these vulnerabilities, according to the advisory.

Recommended action to protect against security vulnerabilities

CERT-In recommends users update the Google Chrome browser to the latest version. Google has already addressed these vulnerabilities in the latest Stable Channel Update for Google Chrome on desktop.

Google said that the update is now rolling out and will be available more widely in the coming days. Similarly, users can update their Chromebooks to the latest version of ChromeOS to mitigate the risks and protect against potential security breaches.
