New Delhi: Google, Amazon and Flipkart, among other stakeholders, favoured permitting FDI in e-commerce retailing in Thursday’s meeting convened by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), a senior government official told PTI. “Most of the players were of the opinion that the government should permit FDI in e-commerce retailing. They said they are facing two major challenges in terms of shortage of capital and inventory management and for that they said they want FDI,” a senior DIPP official said. The official said the DIPP would hold another round of meeting and then appraise the new commerce and industry minister of their views.
