Favourite reads: My favourite author is the Japanese author Daisaku Ikeda and I have read all his books. Daisaku Ikeda is a Japanese Buddhist philosopher, educator, author and nuclear disarmament advocate. His books are my favourite because they tell us so much about life. I don’t have any specific genre as such but I like to read all kinds of books, be it fiction or non-fiction. However, I generally read spiritual books and I really enjoy reading them.
Earliest reading memories: As a child, I remember reading short stories, fables and historical and mythological tales. Later I progressed to Agatha Christie and James Hadley Chase. I also went through my Nancy Drew and comics’ phase.
Favourite author: That would have to be Eckhart Tolle. The German-born Ulrich Leonard Tolle, is a spiritual teacher. A resident of Canada, he is best known as the author of The Power of Now and A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose. I like to read his books because they are very spiritual and inspiring.
A time to read: Anytime is good for me to read as I am a voracious reader and I generally read more than two books at one time. That said, I generally like to read while I am travelling.
Reading quota: I have a huge appetite for reading and, like I said, I usually read more than two books at a time and even more sometimes.
Recommendations: I would recommend all spiritual books because they lift your spirits when you are feeling low and inspire you to get more out of life.
E-books or physical copies?: I prefer physical books because holding a book in your hand gives you so much pleasure and happiness since we have read books always holding them in our hands right from childhood. E-books simply don’t give that human touch and feeling.
Currently reading: I am in the middle of reading Heart of the Lotus Sutra by Daisaku Ikeda and A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle.
Favourite book adaptation: Honestly, I have yet to see a good adaptation for screen from a book because a book is so personal in nature and can never be translated on celluloid. A classic you claimed to have read but actually hadn't I don’t do such things. I consider it as blasphemy.
Must-read authors: Again, these would be Eckhart Tolle and Daisaku Ikeda. You have to read these two authors because their writings really tug at your soul and it’s always an enriching experience.
