Actors Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor made their Bollywood debut in 2007. Over the years, both of them have evolved as artistes and have fulfilled the expectations of the audience with their memorable and versatile performances.
Big Bollywood debut
While Deepika starred opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om, Ranbir kickstarted his acting journey with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya, which featured Sonam Kapoor as the lead actress.
Even though Deepika had made her acting debut with the Kannada film Aishwarya in 2006, she tasted fame with Om Shanti Om in which played the dual roles of Shanti Priya and Sandy.
On the other hand, star kid Ranbir had assisted SLB on the 2005 film Black. In one of his interviews, Ranbir had shared, "I was getting beaten up, abused, doing everything from cleaning the floor to fixing the lights from 7 am to 4 am, but I was learning every day." Well, his hard work paid off as Bhansali later offered him the lead role in his romantic film Saawariya.
Iconic screen pair
Ranbir and Deepika did not make their Bollywood debut together in one film, however, they teamed up for several films and went on to become an iconic screen pair.
They first starred together in Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2008. The duo made this movie the eight highest-grossing Bollywood film that year, and impressed the audience with their crackling onscreen chemistry. Remember their romantic and magical act in the song Khuda Jaane?
Their 2013 film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and Tamasha, which released in 2015, are fan favourites.
In YJHD, the way Ranbir's character Bunny held Naina (played by Deepika) and leaned to kiss her after she expressed her love for him, no one could have nailed such a vulnerable scene better than these two superstars.
The way Tara and Ved communicated and expressed their emotions, without any dialogues, in the song Tum Saath Ho from Tamasha, is one of the most iconic onscreen moments of Ranbir and Deepika.
Fans are in for a treat yet again as Deepika and Ranbir will once again share screen space in Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra 2. However, this time, the actress will be seen as Ranbir's mother.

Their romantic journey and breakup
Besides being one of the most loved onscreen pair, they were loved and adored by the audience for their chemistry in real life. They started dating in 2007. They met on the sets of Bachna Ae Haseeno and fell heads over heel in love with each other in no time.
They never felt shy to flaunt their romance and their PDA often made headlines back then. Reportedly, Deepika even declared herself to be a Kapoor bahu in an interview and got Ranbir's initials tattooed on her nape.
However, the rosy picture ended when the news of Ranbir being with actress Katrina Kaif became the talk of the town.

When they found love again
SLB's film Ram Leela brought Deepika and Ranveer Singh close as they spent a lot of time with each other on the sets of the movie. Soon after, they felt there's a connection and started dating each other after the film's release.
Deepika and Ranveer left fans teary-eyed when they tied the knot in November 2018 in Italy, and have been in a happy marriage ever since.
On the other hand, Ranbir tied the knot with Alia Bhatt in April 2022 after dating for several years. He recently became a proud father of a baby girl.
