Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The District and Sessions Court on Tuesday, has convicted a man and his son in an honour killing case of Ratibad. The case was reported in November 2021. Kamal Singh and his son Raj Kumar have been awarded life imprisonment in the murder case.
Judge Pallavi Dwivedi passed the order. As per public prosecution Vandana Parte, Kamal Singh along with his 25-year-old son Raj Kumar had planned and murdered his 24-year-old daughter as she married a youth belonging to a different caste against their wish.
The accused took the woman to Kathotia forest area on pretext of burying her 5-month-old son, who died of an ailment and raped her beside her son's dead body. He strangulated the woman to death at the spot. His 25-year-old son stood outside around a kilometre away to keep an eye on passers-by.
The woman's body was recovered around 10 days later lying beside her son’s body in a nullah in a remote forest area after a forest guard spotted them. Forest guard Radheshyam Jatav posted at Samaspura beat of Kathotia forest range, had informed police that he spotted the bodies of a woman and a baby boy lying in a dried nullah in the remote forest area.
The police came to know that a complaint was lodged a few days ago, in which a person had mentioned about the woman and her child. A letter was written in the name of a person called Radheshyam, who said that a call was coming from a number and he was repeatedly asking about the wife and child. According to the man, he has not been able to talk to his wife since Diwali. The last call came from this number, so let me talk to her. The telephone number was also mentioned in the letter.
