Madhya Pradesh: Half a dozen Bajrang Dal youths scuffle with cops

The incident occurred on Friday when some police men reached there to work out a dispute between Bajrang Dal youths and a villager.

Katni (Madhya Pradesh): Half a dozen youths belonging to Bajrang Dal have scuffled with cops and hurled abuses at them in Nipnia village under Bahoriband police station in the district, sources said on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Friday when some police men reached there to work out a dispute between Bajrang Dal youths and a villager.

According to reports, the youth has links with Bajrang Dal. The police registered a case against the accused for obstructing government and for beating up a government employee.

Two youths have been arrested. The police said that a group of youths associated with Bajrang Dal had gone to Nipnia village.

They accused a resident of the village Dashrath Singh of illegally transporting cattle.

Singh, however, told the police that he had never been involved in illegal transportation of cattle.

When Singh objected to the allegation the youths began to beat him up, sources said.

As the villagers came to know that Singh was beaten up they rushed to the spot. There was resentment among the villagers against the youths.

On seeing the crowd, the youths ran away, but they returned to the village with 50 more youths and began to beat up the villagers.

Immediately after that, the villagers informed the police about the incident.

On reaching the spot, the cops tried to quell the youths, but they abused the police men, as well as tried to beat them up.

The youths also damaged the motorcycle of a constable. A large number of police men then rushed to the spot to control the situation.

More than six motorcycles were damaged during the clash between the Bajrang Dal workers and the villagers. One of the bikes was set afire.

Five receive injuries as two bikes collide

Five persons were injured, two of them seriously, after two bikes collided head-on near Magardha village under Rithi police station in the city on Sunday, the police said.

According to reports, Arvind Chakravarty, Priyanka Chakravarty and Ramkali Chakravarty, residents of Madaidevri village, were going somewhere on a motorcycle.

Just as they reached Magdhara village, their bike collided with another two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction.

Annu Parjapati and Premlal Prajapati, residents of Rithi, were on the bike, the police further said. The injured were rushed to a hospital.
