Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): After a brief lull in monsoon activity, rainfall is expected to increase across Madhya Pradesh over the next few days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the state, with thunderstorms and lightning also likely in many districts.

According to the IMD, East Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive very heavy rainfall on August 7, while West Madhya Pradesh is under a heavy rain alert. Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds may also accompany the rain in many places.
The weather department said the active monsoon conditions are expected to continue over the next few days. Heavy rainfall is likely in both eastern and western parts of the state on August 8, while heavy rain is expected to continue on August 9 and August 10 in many districts. The intensity may begin to reduce after August 11, when no major warnings have been issued for most parts of the state.
Districts in eastern Madhya Pradesh, including Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, Umaria, Mandla, Dindori, Balaghat, Katni, Satna and Panna, may receive moderate to heavy rainfall over the next two to four days.
In western Madhya Pradesh, districts such as Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Sehore, Raisen, Dewas, Dhar, Ratlam and Narmadapuram are also expected to witness spells of rain, with isolated heavy showers in some places.
The IMD has advised people to remain alert during thunderstorms, avoid taking shelter under trees during lightning, and stay away from flooded roads and waterlogged areas. Motorists have also been asked to drive carefully as heavy rain may reduce visibility and lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas.
The weather department said the current monsoon pattern is favourable for widespread rainfall across central India. As a result, many parts of Madhya Pradesh are likely to receive good rainfall over the coming days, bringing relief to areas that have so far recorded below-normal rain this season.
