Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive heavy rain across several districts over the next three days. Narmadapuram, Chhatarpur and Umaria are expected to receive heavy rain on Saturday, while eastern districts including Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar and Shahdol may see strong showers. A depression over the Bay of Bengal is driving the weather system. Meanwhile, 43 districts have below-normal rainfall so far.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Heavy rain has been forecast in 21 districts of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, with 4 to 8 inches of rainfall possible in the next 24 hours. 

According to the IMD Bhopal, a strong weather system is active over the eastern part of the state and is likely to affect Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar and Shahdol divisions over the next four days.

Extremely heavy rain is expected in Narmadapuram, Chhatarpur and Umaria. Heavy rain has also been forecast in Jabalpur, Sagar, Raisen, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Shahdol, Katni, Panna, Tikamgarh, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi and Singrauli.

Several other districts, including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Guna, Shivpuri, Satna, Damoh and Niwari, may also receive light to heavy rain.

What do meteorologists say?

Weather experts said a low-pressure area that developed over the Bay of Bengal had intensified into a depression, which would have the strongest impact on eastern Madhya Pradesh.

According to the IMD, only 12 districts have received above-average rainfall so far, while 43 districts continue to record below-normal rainfall. Several districts in the eastern region have received up to 54% less rainfall than normal.
