Bhopal: Most students taking board examination this year have turned to self-study and taking help from NCERT books for all subjects. Free Press talked to a section of such students to know how are they preparing for exams. Excerpts:

Devanshu Maheshwari, class XII student

I am devoting 3 to 4 hours daily for self-study. I have revised all subjects equally. I still go for coaching for test. I wake up at 7 am and sleep at 10 pm. I have no exam fear. But there is a bit of pressure because besides board exams, I also have to appear for competitive exams. I was very relaxed during class 10 exam. Whenever I get stressed, I watch TV and play guitar. My parents and teachers both are very cooperative. I don’t like social media because I feel bored.

Aditya Shriniwasan, class XII student

I devote two hours for math and chemistry and one hour each for textbooks and reference books. I devote 40 minutes for reading and 30 minutes in answering questions. I devote time equally for all subjects. My parents are scientists. They told me to do my best. I enjoy watching TV, reading and playing guitar to relax my mind. I am on WhatsApp but I use once or twice a week during exam. The school teaching was very good and the atmosphere was stress free. So, I didn’t go for coaching.

Kanupriya Vyas, class X student

I prefer to read NCERT books. I also follow reference books. If I have doubts in any subjects especially in math, I ask my teachers. My elder sister who is pursuing master degree in robotics from Canada also helps me to clear doubts through skype. When I get bored from study, I take a walk and listen to music. I spend very little time on social media during exam. I don’t take coaching because I believe in self-study. Our teachers and parents are very supportive.

Parivesh Bajpai, class X student

I have done revision of all subjects twice. I have also solved model papers. I devote 4 to 5 hours daily for self- study. I read detective novels like Sherlock Holmes to refresh mind. I have expectation from myself. I am expecting to score 95 %. I am not on WhatsApp or Facebook.
