SHIVPURI: When 80-year-old Bainibai Barhar of Tila came to the ‘jansunvai’ being chaired by SDM CV Prasad here on Friday to complain about not getting PDS food grains, the officer was so moved on seeing her miserable state that he offered her a chair and ordered snacks and tea for her.
Once the woman had had her fill, he asked her about her problem. The SDM immediately asked the assistant civil supplies officer to probe her complaint. The SDM was informed that the woman had two IDs and that was why one was deleted. He directed that the ID should again be generated and it should be ensured that she got her quota of food grains.
Sonu Dubey, corporator of Ward 2 reached the hearing along with his dozen supporters and complained that the streetlights in his area were not working. The SDM was told by the assistant engineer of the power distribution company that the power supply for street lighting was disconnected as the municipality had not paid Rs 64,000 bill. The SDM got the bill paid immediately and instructed the power company as well as the municipality that the lights be restored within the next couple of days.
