BHOPAL: A 28-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging self from the ceiling fan of his house on Monday evening at Gandhi Nagar. No suicide note was found but in the initial investigations police suspect he was depressed after his wife left for her paternal house due to his drinking habit.
According to the police, Rajkumar, a resident of BDA Quarters in Gandhi Nagar used to live with his wife and two children along with his mother, younger brother and his brother’s family. He worked in a cloth mill but left the job a few months ago without any reason. After leaving, he used to do nothing for the last few months except drinking alcohol. On Monday evening, there was power cut in the neighbourhood where he used to live. His wife after having an argument over his drinking habit left for her paternal house with their two children while his brother and his mother had gone to a nearby temple. At around 7.30 pm, when his brother and mother returned, they saw him hanging from a ceiling fan in the house.
His brother brought him down and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead by doctors. The police were informed at around 9 pm. “In the prima facie investigations though, it is suspected that the deceased was upset after his wife left for her paternal house following an argument over his drinking habit. The police have so far registered a matter under Section 174 of CrPC and investigations are on,” said investigating officer, assistant sub-inspector, PL Sharma.
