BYD has confirmed the launch of its Sealion 7 electric SUV in India on February 17, 2025. The SUV was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2025, and bookings have been open for some time. Deliveries are set to commence from March 7, 2025. As BYD’s fourth electric model in India, the Sealion 7 is expected to be the brand’s most premium offering, further expanding its footprint in the country’s fast-growing EV segment.
The BYD Sealion 7, already sold in China and Europe, is set to arrive in India with two variants, both powered by an 82.5 kWh battery pack. The RWD Premium variant boasts a claimed range of 587 km, while the AWD Performance model offers 542 km per charge (NEDC cycle). Customers will have the option of a single-motor setup delivering 308 bhp or a more powerful dual-motor configuration producing 523 bhp. With these options, the Sealion 7 aims to offer a balance of efficiency and performance in the premium electric SUV segment.

Inspired by the BYD Seal sedan, the electric SUV sports a distinctive front fascia with sleek LED headlights and vertically stacked DRLs, while the rear gets a full-width taillight and a sporty diffuser. Buyers will have four color options to choose from: Shark Grey, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, and Cosmos Black.

Inside, the Sealion 7 comes equipped with a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a host of luxury features, including ventilated and heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and a 12-speaker premium audio system. On the safety front, the SUV is packed with ADAS technology, offering adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, cross-traffic alerts, and lane departure warning.
