Mocha Bezirgan, an independent Canadian journalist, has alleged that pro-Khalistan activists surrounded him, snatched his phone, and physically assaulted him while he was reporting on a rally in Vancouver on Sunday. This followed his previous coverage of Khalistan-related protests.

Bezirgan recounted the incident in a video post, saying that the Khalistan supporters acted like thugs and that their intimidation left him shaken.

"It happened just two hours ago, and I’m still shaking. I was surrounded by several Khalistan supporters who acted like thugs. They surrounded me, threatened me, became physically aggressive, and snatched my phone from my hand. This was done by an individual who has been harassing me for a long time online, using dehumanising language against me... I was only there to report on the event," he said.

He further stated that the Khalistan supporters had gathered to honour their so-called martyrs, including the assassins of Indira Gandhi.

"One individual approached me and started questioning me. He got very close to my face... Then, suddenly, I had two or three people surrounding me at the same intimidating proximity, leaving me with no way out," Bezirgan said.

He explained that he continued recording secretly, sensing that they might turn violent.

"As soon as I started recording, they turned their faces away, but one individual kept advancing towards me and eventually grabbed my phone from my hand for a moment... I have more footage, which I’m about to upload on my channel. He continued following me throughout the parade... He even followed me to the train station, and that’s how I finally left the area..." he said.
