A day after achieving a historic milestone of 88.09 lakh COVID-19 vaccinations, a significant dip was recorded in the inoculation numbers as only 54.24 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, according to an updated data of the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.
A total of 29.46 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered under the 'Nationwide Vaccination Drive' so far.
As the new phase of universalisation of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from Monday, in a landmark achievement, 88.09 lakh vaccine doses were administered on the first day of the new phase beginning June 21. This is the highest single-day number of jabs in the world.
Opposition party Congress has started a campaign against the BJP government accusing them of doing PR and publicity in the name of vaccination.
Official Twitter handle of Congress posted a tweet that reads, "Modi govt's botched-up vaccination drive exposes their PR agenda. Be it the 'Tika Utsav', or the Yoga Day 'record-high', their focus has only been event & image management. And they do this at the cost of Indian lives."
Karnataka MP Jairam Ramesh wrote on Twitter, "Madhya Pradesh vaccination trend last 3 days: 20th June: 692 21st June: 16.93 lakhs 22nd June: 4842 Who are we trying to fool?"
Numerous others are supporting Congress and the campaign that they have initiated.
Have a look.
