Motivation? Panicking moment instead

For a while, the student assumed the reward would be something material—perhaps a new bike or gaming setup, but the dad's surprise was more of a shocker that led to panic. For him, instead of motivation, the father's deal came as a bombshell revelation when the father said he had another child, who was far from home these years.

In a tone that was both serious and mysterious, the father told his son, "We had another kid at birth… He was sent away for reasons you’ll understand when you’re older." At first, the JEE aspirant thought his father was joking while trying to motivate him in a quirky way, but his mother's reaction to these words put him into thought. “Why would you tell him now?”, the Reddit post quoted the mother, taking the situation took a far more ominous turn.

“Can’t focus on studies anymore..."

The son, now questioning whether he actually has a long-lost twin, has been unable to focus on his studies ever since.

“I can’t focus on my studies anymore—What if I actually have a twin? What were the reasons that made them send him away? And why does my JEE rank determine when I’ll get to meet him?” the student wrote, expressing his confusion and panic.

The father’s response was equally cryptic: “Get the rank first. Then we’ll talk.”
