International Yoga Day is around the corner and fitness enthusiasts are setting up their yoga mats already. While humans are doing their part, a doggo joined them in the activity. A viral video captured a stray dog joining a special yoga session by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at its 13th Battalion campus in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. It showed the animal performing the yoga asanas at its best alongside NDRF personnel.

The stray dog was reportedly trained by NDRF personnel for about two years. When it saw officers placing their yoga mats and performing asanas, it simply walked into the space and joined them. The visuals showed the dog stealing the spotlight during the yoga event where 55 NDRF authorities participated.

The event was held on Friday morning and the visuals from the yoga practice has gone viral on social media.

In the video, the dog tried mirroring most asanas carried out at the session. From leaning downwards to the vajrasana pose, the animal tried to match humans and flaunt its flexibility.

"If a stray dog can learn yoga, why can't humans incorporate it into their daily lives?" the NDRF team was quoted in media reports.

Battalion's Inspector Munshi Ram led the session and addressed the dog's participation.

"Yoga is for all"

He told news agency ANI that the dog was their "furry friend who had been with them for two years."

"Today, I have conducted yoga with 55 members and one dog... His engagement proves yoga is without boundaries--yoga is for all, including animals," the inspector said.

"This International Yoga Day, we want people to adopt yoga not merely on June 21 but as a lifetime practice for holistic wellness," he added.
