New Delhi: A day after the Indian Armed Forces executed Operation Sindoor, eliminating over 80 terrorists in a swift strike on nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), an old statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has resurfaced and gone viral. The clip, originally from a May 2024 interview, is being widely circulated on social media in the aftermath of the strikes, drawing renewed attention to the Prime Minister’s firm stance on Pakistan’s military and nuclear capabilities.
In the video, PM Modi recalls his 2015 visit to Lahore, where he said he assessed Pakistan’s strength firsthand. Responding to Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s suggestion that India should tread carefully due to Pakistan's nuclear status, Modi had remarked, "Uss taakat ko main khud Lahore jaakar check karke aaya hu" meaning, “I personally went to Lahore to assess that strength.”
He added that during his visit, he walked around without security, recounting a moment when a Pakistani reporter was surprised at his unannounced arrival and lack of a visa. Modi responded casually, "Wo bhi toh pehle mera hi desh tha yaar," a reference to the shared history of India and Pakistan before Partition.
Meanwhile, another clip of PM Modi has also gone viral, this one from his speech at an ABP News event, delivered just hours before Operation Sindoor. In the video, he appears to give a cryptic hint about the imminent military action. As he wrapped up his speech, Modi said, "Aur mujhe bhi... kyonki ab der raat hone wali hai," a line that many online users are now interpreting as a subtle allusion to the planned night-time airstrikes.

The strikes, under Operation Sindoor, completed in just 23 minutes, are being hailed as one of India’s most precisely coordinated tri-services operations in recent memory, involving the Army, Air Force and Navy. The targets of Operation Sindoor were key terror hubs affiliated with banned organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Among the primary sites struck were JeM’s Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, LeT’s Markaz Taiba in Muridke and multiple camps in Muzaffarabad and Kotli, which have long been believed to play central roles in anti-India operations.
