US: 'Googly Eyes' Added To Statues On Roundabouts In Bend Chuckles Locals But Upsets Government

Locals went putting googly eyes to the statues in the city, leaving people chuckling but officials upset. "We love our roundabout art in Bend, so let's do our part to take care of it.​ While the googly eyes placed on the various art pieces around town might give you a chuckle, it costs money to remove them with care to not damage the art", said the City of Bend Oregon Government.

Imagine walking on a street to spot a statue on the roadside staring at you with wiggle eyes. Wouldn't that make you a bit uncomfortable? While some might walk closer to the statue to take a look it considering it a piece of art, others might flee out of fear.

Regardless of the response such statues would receive, it isn't okay to purposefully hinder a statue by adding these plastic-crafted eyeball stickers on it. But locals in the Bend region of Oregon, US turned usual sculptures exhibited on the roads to something quite quirky. They went putting googly eyes to the statues in the city, leaving people chuckling but officials upset.

Visuals that have surfaced online capture how usual installations relating to animal and shapes got a hilarious twist when some notorious locals added googly eyes to them.

Locals put these eye-catchy object on several statues in the region including the statues of a huge sphere ball, a horse, a scarlet-coloured flaming chicken, and a doe with its baby.

It was learned that these were the artworks displayed at the Bend's roundabout created by artists from around the world.

Government reacts

While these googly eyes amused people, the government took note of the incident and addressed it.

Taking to social media, the officials of the Bend region urged locals to not damage the art pointing out it costs a lot to repair and recover the artworks back to its original look.

"We love our roundabout art in Bend, so let's do our part to take care of it.​ While the googly eyes placed on the various art pieces around town might give you a chuckle, it costs money to remove them with care to not damage the art", said the City of Bend Oregon Government.

The government posted pictures of these artworks at the roundabout which were mischievously given the googly eyes. Further, they also shared an image showing taking measures to bring these statues back to form. The visuals showed the officials having added a patch of paper to cover the wiggle eyes.
