A video of a woman named Janhavi blaming her auto driver for stealing money from her bag is being widely circulated on social media. She claims that he grabbed her bag when she stepped down to buy a coffee powder from a nearby store. Her unattended purse was left behind in the vehicle and touched by the driver.
She uploaded a video of her confrontation with the driver after allegedly seeing him unzip her bag.
"I caught the driver red-handed trying to open the front zip of my handbag. My money was stuck in the zip and he was struggling to take it out. He didn’t realise I was standing right behind him, watching everything," Janhavi explained.

Auto driver: "No intention to steal"
However, when she accused him of stealing money from her bag, he denied it. When the woman started filming him and threatening him about releasing the clip online, he pleaded for forgiveness.
The auto driver didn't admit the act. Putting his side out, he expressed that he was only trying to safeguard the bag from others in the area.
"Sorry madam, sorry madam. I did not do it intentionally. I didn't grab it for money. I only wanted to keep it safe," he said in defence.

Janhavi posted the clip on Instagram and pointed out that she booked the ride via Rapido for her travel from Marathahalli to JP Nagar 7th Phase.
Describing the incident, she captioned the video, "What started as a normal ride quickly turned into a disturbing experience and nightmare."
"This is NOT just about money. This is about trust, safety, and dignity. I shudder to think what could have happened if I hadn’t returned in time. Please be careful, especially if you're commuting late or alone," she added while tagging the cab booking company on Instagram.
The incident took place on the night of June 11. Rapido has not issued any official statement on the incident until Monday.
