Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their new-born daughter whom they have named Lilibet 'Lili' Diana Mountbatten-Windsor after the monarch and his late mother Princess Diana.
This is the second child for the US-based couple, who have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Their daughter would be the monarch's 11th great-grandchild.
Harry and Meghan's second child is named after the Queen, who was affectionately nicknamed Lilibet by her family, and her late grandmother, Princess Diana, it said.
A statement from the couple's press secretary said that their second child was born at 11:40 am on Friday.
"It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet 'Lili' Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world. Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 am in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California," the statement said.
"Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, the Princess of Wales," the official statement from the couple said.
"On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family," the statement said.
However, Britain still stands divided. People who are upset with the couple for leaving the royal family are taking to Twitter to tell that they won't ever feel happy or accept Lilibet as apart of the royal family. Many are also trolling the royal couple and the newborn.
