On one hand, the country celebrated Republic Day on Sunday, and visuals from the Republic Day parade were trending everywhere on social media. Meanwhile, a video went viral on social media, highlighting the issue of unemployment in the country.
An X handle named Pune Pulse shared a video showing a long serpentine line of job seekers standing in a queue for a walk-in interview outside an IT company in Pune.
The post claimed that 3,000 engineers had gathered for a walk-in interview at UPS, Magarpatta. According to reports, the company had announced a walk-in interview for 100 openings.
However, FPJ couldn’t independently verify the job profiles for which the professionals were lined up. The video quickly went viral, with many users sharing it along with their reactions. The video garnered over 2 lakh views and 2 thousand likes within 24 hours of being uploaded. This count excludes the views and likes on posts where users downloaded the video and reuploaded it with different captions.
"Rising unemployment among educated youth. They have no future. Parents are unnecessarily spending money on their education," commented one user.
"The job market is ruthless for junior IT professionals. The days of IT being a dream career for the middle class are over with the advent of AI. Companies are now increasing productivity through AI," wrote another user.
"Most of them are probably just job hoppers. Without proper planning and updating their skills, there’s no point in standing in that queue," remarked a third user.
