Angel Di Maria might have scored a goal in the Copa America final but all eyes were on Lionel Messi as the legend ended the drought of the first major international title with Argentina.
Argentina clinched the Copa America final for the first time since 1993, registering a 1-0 win over Brazil on Saturday (local time). Last night was a spectacular one as Lionel Messi lifted the Copa America 2021 at the iconic Maracana Stadium in Rio.
One of the highlights was also when Messi and Neymar were both named as the two best players of the tournament just before their teams locked horns in the final.
However, the highlight that left football fans in a pool of tears was when Messi's former Barcelona teammate Neymar held off his tears after losing a final and went to congratulate his pal.
In a moment of great respect, Neymar went to the Argentina camp and embraced Messi for a few minutes. A tight embrace and tears- the moment was overwhelming to say the least.
