Would you believe it if someone informed you of an Indian song being played at a significant event in England? Well, why not? Bollywood music has fans and admirers across the globe. A recent proof of this came from the Commonwealth Day ceremony at Westminster Abbey when Prince William and Kate Middleton received a welcome with one of the very popular desi beats.

'Teri Meri' for the Prince

An Indian band at the event played a romantic song from Salman Khan-Kareena Kapoor Khan's film 'Bodyguard'. Can you guess which one?

The Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band uploaded a video of orchestrating 'Teri Meri Prem Kahani' as the Royal couple entered the event venue in London.

Watch video

The video shared by the band showed Prince William walking with his wife Kate Middleton while listening to the Bollywood track sung by Indian playback singer Shreya Ghoshal. As they stepped into Westminister Abbey, the band performed the hit song for the couple.

Visuals showed Prince William and his lady love, dressed in a bright red dress, smiling and walking into the iconic church as they were welcomed with this Indian tune.

THIS song was played for the King

A little while ago, the same band shared a video of King Charles and Queen Camilla entering the event venue. This time, the music artists orchestrated another Indian song from Bollywood. Marking their arrival and extending a unique tribute to them, the band played 'Dhoom Machale' at the church entrance.

Netizens in disbelief

As these videos surfaced online, Instagram users expressed disbelief at such songs being played to welcome the members of the British Royal family.

"NO THEY DID NOT PLAY THAT! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!", said one user. "I'm dying, the music choice is EPIC", read another comment.

The Bollywood connection

This is not the first time that Bollywood vibes were felt in England. There are several instances which reflect the British Royal family's love and admiration for Bollywood music.

In 2018, singer Kanika Kapoor was invited to the royal residence to perform 'Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein' on the 10th-anniversary celebration of the British Asian Trust. In another such incident, Jaipur's Kawa Brass Band, known for their lullaby 'Chanda Hai Tu', performed at a royal celebration in 2014.

It can be said the presence of Bollywood beats in royal events reflects the long-lasting connection between India and Britain.
