On June 24, US Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe vs Wade judgement, eliminating the right to abortion. Soon after the decision was made, a call to action arose online: Delete your period tracking apps. This is happening because people fear that one's personal information would be accessed by the government.

Are period-tracking apps safe?

Tech policy researcher Eva Blum-Dumontet, who wrote a paper on privacy policies, told Business Insider that if the masses are using these applications they may choose not to delete the same. "It's unlikely that those data will be shared, but not impossible."

Jackie Singh, a former senior cybersecurity staffer, earlier told Mashable, "Data stored in health apps doesn't pose much of a risk. However, I would caution people who menstruate to stop using any type of app to track their menstrual health if they have any expectation of having a presence in states which are expected to ban abortion. However, we obviously cannot anticipate how future legislation will impact us, so the safest thing is to stop digital tracking."
