Lucknow, August 6: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Government is continuously taking stringent measures to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality, and safe electricity supply for the people of the state. In this regard, Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma made it clear during a high-level review meeting that providing timely electricity to the public is the government's highest priority and negligence at any level will not be tolerated.
The Energy Minister directed the Managing Director of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited to immediately expedite the disposal of consumer complaints across the Purvanchal region.
He said, "Officers who are not performing their duties with honesty and seriousness should be removed without delay, as no compromise with public interest will be accepted."
Keeping the Kanwar Yatra in view, Minister A.K. Sharma instructed all officials to ensure adequate electrical safety arrangements along the pilgrimage routes.
Any exposed electrical equipment or potential hazards should be removed immediately, and special monitoring should be maintained to ensure uninterrupted power supply along the routes so that devotees do not face any inconvenience or accidents.
During the review, Minister A.K. Sharma expressed serious displeasure over interruptions in power supply and the failure to replace burnt transformers on time in districts including Deoria, Ghazipur, Shravasti, Bahraich, and Fatehpur.
Seeking explanations from the concerned Executive Engineers, he said, "Accountability would be fixed in every case where public inconvenience had been caused due to negligence."
In Deoria district's Lar police station area, where a burnt transformer had not been replaced for the past ten days, the local officials failed to provide a satisfactory explanation.
Consequently, Additional Chief Secretary Ashish Goyal directed that an adverse entry be issued immediately against the Chief Engineer, Gorakhpur (II).

Similarly, in the Gahmar area of Ghazipur district, where a burnt transformer had remained unreplaced for 12 days, and due to the Executive Engineer's absence from the review meeting, instructions were issued to suspend the officer. The concerned Superintending Engineer was also given a stern warning, with it being made clear that any recurrence of such negligence would invite strict action.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal, Managing Director Nitesh Kumar, Mayur Maheshwari, and other senior departmental officials, while officers from across the state participated virtually.
