Lucknow: Members of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) staged a protest outside the Lucknow Police Commissioner’s office on Wednesday, alleging police inaction in two recent incidents involving attacks on farmers and women. Led by BKU President Kamlesh Yadav, the farmers raised slogans against the police and later submitted a memorandum demanding accountability.

Kamlesh alleged that Rekha Yadav, a resident of Gudamba, was seriously injured in a late-night attack by locals. Despite her injuries, no proper medical aid or FIR was provided. Instead, she was allegedly threatened by the Gudamba SHO and forced to leave for Barabanki.

The police reportedly district-exiled the victim while sparing the attackers. In another incident, BKU district president Ram Gopal was allegedly attacked with sticks at his residence in Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) on July 21. Though the police were informed, no action has been taken so far, despite the video evidence being submitted to officials.

Yadav stated that such incidents reflect the deteriorating law and order in Uttar Pradesh. The BKU has warned that if justice is not served, they will escalate their protest to the Chief Minister’s residence. They demanded strict action against negligent officers and timely prosecution of attackers.
