Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Sydney Sixers came up with a massive announcement on April 1, Tuesday as they announced Virat Kohli will play for them for the next two seasons. Given the BCCI doesn't allow contracted Indian players to play in overseas leagues, the announcement sparked a huge intrigue among the fans.

Due to some of his best knocks across formats in Australia, the 36-year-old harbours quite a lot of respect in Australia. He is also the only Asian captain to date to win a Test series Down Under and garnered quite the fan base despite not faring well in the red-ball leg in Australia recently.
Below is the post on Instagram by the Sydney Sixers as they captioned it
"King Kohli. Virat Kohli is officially a Sixer for the next TWO seasons!"
However, they later announced that it was a post on account of April 1st, which is known as the April Fool's day.
Virat Kohli to play ODI series later this year in Australia
Meanwhile, the Delhi-born cricketer will return to the Australian shores later this year when they host India for a three-match ODI series in October. It will be the first time India tours Australia to play a bilateral white-ball series since 2020 as they will also feature in five T20Is.
Kohli is currently playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2025, with the decorated franchise winning both their games held so far. The Royal Challengers will square off in their third match on April 2, Tuesday against the Gujarat Titans.
