An Indian cricket fan from Tirupati mandal Durgasamudra named Jyoti Kumar Yadav died of heart-attack following the Men in Blue's heartbreaking loss to India in the 2023 World Cup final on Sunday in Ahmedabad. According to reports, he was rushed to the hospital, but the doctors already pronounced him dead.
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma couldn't control his tears after losing the final, given India's form heading into the big game. Not only the Indian captain was in tears, but also the likes of Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj could not hold themselves back. The crowd of over 1,30,000 sat in stunned silence as India failed to win their first ICC trophy since 2013.
Below is the clip of the family members mourning his death:
Rohit Sharma smashes 47 before throwing away his wicket to Glenn Maxwell:
The Indian skipper had been playing an aggressive brand of cricket at the top right throughout the World Cup and it was no different on Sunday in Ahmedabad. However, the 2nd over from Glenn Maxwell saw him go for one short too many. After hitting a six and a four, the right-hander tried to smash another maximum, but could only get an edge as Travis Head took a fantastic catch.
While the home side smashed 80 in the first 10 overs, they managed only 160 more in the next 40. Despite losing 3 wickets inside 10 overs, Australia reached the target in a canter as Travis Head cracked 137.
