Virar: India Under-19 captain Ayush Mhatre’s proud family reacted to the team’s World Cup victory under their son's leadership on Friday. Speaking to news agency ANI, the skippers' mother said, “I am very happy today that the world is seeing my son. He has the support and blessings of everyone. We are all very happy. Ayush has worked very hard since his childhood.”
Ayush Mhatre now joins the likes of Virat Kohli and Unmukt Chand to have lifted the U19 WC as captain.
Visuals also showed his father Yogesh Kamalkar Mhatre getting emotional while celebrating with the tricolour alongside neighbours at their residence in Maharashtra's Virar. Speaking to news agency IANS he said, "India has won under his captaincy. I am at a loss for words,everyone is happy today..."
His brother also reacted to the victory and said,"It feels amazing that India has won the match. It is a very proud moment for us."
