Dindigul Dragons' captain Ravichandran Ashwin's resigned expression went viral as fielders kept conceding runs via overthrows in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) match against the Siachem Madurai Panthers on June 14, Saturday in Salem. In a video surfaced on social media, Ashwin looked at the fielders with an angry and helpless expression after a comedy of errors.

The incident occurred in the 20th over when a Panthers' batter struck a shot to the cover fielder, with Ashwin taking a shy at the non-striker's end. With no player backing up to prevent the ball from going far, the batters took another run. Another player attempted a direct hit at the striker's end, prompting an overthrow once again and the batters ran three.

The fielding blunders from the dragons meant that they missed three run-out opportunities.

The retired Indian cricketer had grabbed the spotlight earlier in the tournament as well for his outburst against a female umpire after being given out LBW. The veteran had been fined 30 per cent of his match fee for the same.

Dindigul Dragons chase 151 with ease

While the Madurai Panthers went on to amass 150 in 20 overs, the Dragons needed only 12.3 overs to chase down the target of 151. Skipper Ashwin led the way with a 29-ball 49 to stitch an opening partnership of 124 with Shivam Singh only in 10.4 overs.

Nevertheless, Shivam Singh belted eight fours and six sixes in his 41-ball 86 as Dragons won by nine wickets.
