Team India suffered a heavy defeat in Melbourne, leaving them in a do-or-die situation for the fifth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) starting on Friday, January 3rd.

Ahead of the big battle reports of unrest inside Team India's dressing room emerged but head coach Gautam Gambhir played down rumours stating that these are just reports and not the truth.

Amid all the tensions, a video went viral on social media were Shubman Gill's parents are captured sitting behind nets and watching their son practicing in the nets along with rest of the Team India players.

Shubman Gill's performance in BGT 2024 so far

Shubman Gill, who missed the first test due to left thumb injury, returned for the second test and contributed modestly in both innings scored 28 and 31.

However, he managed only 1 run in the first innings of the rain-affected third Test at Gabba. Gill may return for the fifth Test, especially after India’s poor performance in the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne.

India shifts focus to Sydney

India suffered a massive defeat in the Melbourne Test, significantly reducing their chances of making it to the World Test Championship (WTC) final. The Sydney Test now becomes a must-win for the team if they hope to secure their spot for the third consecutive time.

Senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have struggled throughout the series. While Kohli scored a century in the first Test, he has been inconsistent since.

Rohit’s form has been particularly concerning, as he is yet to cross double digits in the series. On the other hand, Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored a brilliant maiden century at Melbourne, will look to deliver again in Sydney.

Jasprit Bumrah, who has taken an impressive 30 wickets so far in the series, will continue to lead the bowling attack. With everything on the line, India will need a collective effort to keep their WTC hopes alive in this do-or-die match.
