Radhika Yadav, a former junior tennis player, was shot dead by her father Deepak Yadav on Thursday at their home in Gurugram. Police have recovered the murder weapon, which is a licensed revolver that belongs to Deepak. Radhika's mother was not home at the time of the incident

According to IANS, the police informed that the accused man killed his daughter simply because people mocked him for living off his daughter's earnings. A Gurugram Police officer stated that for several days, the accused Deepak Yadav (49) had been subjected to taunts from some people, which led him to ask his daughter to shut down her academy. People used to say that he was living off his daughter's income.

Father objects to Radhika's music video

Besides having issues with Radhika's tennis academy, Investigators believe a music video titled Karwaan, featuring Radhika and released under the LLF Records label, may have further strained the father-daughter relationship. Sources told NDTV that Deepak had objected to Radhika’s presence in the video, asking her to delete it from her social media accounts.

FIR filed against Deepak Yadav

The first information report (FIR) was filed by Kuldeep Yadav, Radhika’s uncle and the accused's younger brother. “When I went upstairs, I saw my niece lying motionless in the kitchen. The revolver was on the floor in the drawing room,” Kuldeep reportedly told police.
