Gurugram: A 25-year-old state-level tennis player, Radhika, was allegedly shot dead by her own father at their residence in Haryana's Gurugram on Thursday. The accused, identified as Deepak (49), has confessed to the crime and has been arrested.

Radhika, who was also running a tennis academy, was shot three times with a licensed gun. According to police, the motive of the crime appears to be Deepak’s objection to her running the academy.

The police have seized the revolver used in the incident, and the matter is currently under investigation.

Some reports suggest that Radhika’s father was upset about her creating social media reels. She was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

According to TennisKhelo.com, Radhika Yadav had an International Tennis Federation (ITF) doubles ranking of 113.

Born on 23 March 2000, she competed against players such as Viswanadh Harshini, Bougrat Maelys, Sun Yifan, Maruri Suhitha, and Mashabayeva Dilnaz. Yadav appeared to have a promising career ahead of her, but it was tragically cut short.
