During the tri-series match between Pakistan and New Zealand, all-rounder Rachin Ravindra suffered a head injury after being struck by the ball. The incident silenced the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore as medics rushed to help him.

It happened in the 38th over of Pakistan’s innings when Khushdil Shah swept a delivery from Michael Bracewell. Ravindra, fielding at deep mid-wicket, attempted a catch, but the ball slipped through his hands and hit his head. He immediately fell to the ground but was able to walk off the field after medical attention.

Earlier, Pakistan also faced a setback when fast bowler Haris Rauf left the field after bowling 6.2 overs. He appeared uncomfortable, touching his hip before walking off.

Reports suggest he may have twisted his ankle, but the exact injury is unclear. With the Champions Trophy just two weeks away, Pakistani fans hope it isn’t serious. Rauf had a strong start, dismissing Tom Latham for a duck and conceding only 23 runs before leaving.

Pakistan relies on its pace trio of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah due to a lack of quality spinners in their squad. Losing Rauf for the tournament would be a big blow.

New Zealand beat Pakistan 78 runs

New Zealand registered a dominant victory in the first ODI by 78 runs. After putting up a strong total of 330/6, thanks to Daryl Mitchell’s 81 and Glenn Phillips’ unbeaten 106, Pakistan got bundled on 252.

Pakistan’s bowlers failed to make an impact, and their batting also fell short. Except for Fakhar Zaman, who scored 84, no other batter made a significant contribution.
