The 37-year-old tore a muscle in his left hamstring at the 2025 Australian Open. Novak suffered the injury when he was facing Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals. During the semi finals against Alexander Zverev, Novak tried to compete with the hamstring injury, but later retired after losing the first set of his semifinal match.
Since then, there has been mixed reports regarding the Serbian's condition. At first, there were reports that Novak would be sidelined for several months and that his objective would be to return for the 2025 French Open.
Although Djokovic has not yet begun practicing, his plan to fly to Doha makes it apparent that he plans to compete in this year's Qatar Open, which begins on February 17 and has been promoted to a 500-level competition.
