Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from Serbia’s Davis Cup qualifiers first round match against Denmark due to a hamstring injury. This comes right after he retired from his Australian Open semi-final match against Alexander Zverev for the same reason.

The Davis Cup tie is set to take place from January 31 to February 2. However, Djokovic was expected to play against Denmark when Serbia faced them in the Davis Cup from January 31 to February 2 in Copenhagen.

Speaking about his injury concerns, Djokovic said he isn’t worried much but admitted he has been dealing with injuries more frequently in recent years. He isn't sure why this is happening but remains determined to continue competing for more Grand Slam titles.

"I'm not constantly worried about getting injured before every Grand Slam, but looking at the past few years, the numbers haven't been in my favor."

During his Australian Open semi-final match, Djokovic retired midway of the match, which led to boos from the crowd. However, Zverev later slammed the audience in a post-match interview.

To silence all doubters , Djokovic even shared his MRI scan on social media, addressing critics who questioned the severity of his injury. Captioning "Thought I'd leave this here for all the sports injury 'experts' out there."

Despite missing out on the Australian Open title, Djokovic has moved up to No. 6 in the latest ATP rankings with 3,900 points. While Jannik Sinner remains at the top with 11,830 points after winning the Australian Open final against Zverev.

Novak Djokovic’s record at Davis Cup

Djokovic has been competing in the Davis Cup since 2004, winning 46 matches with 41 in singles and 5 in doubles while losing 16 in total. He played a crucial role in Serbia’s Davis Cup triumph in 2010, helping them secure victory against France in Belgrade. Now, as he continues his quest for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title, Djokovic remains focused on recovering from his injury.
